Baby Barrell
Jamie Carmain
Charcoal pencils, 2019
Baby Barrel is a still life. Baby barrel refers to the small barrel on the right side of the drawing. I used the medium of charcoal. I’ve never worked with charcoal before, so this was a very exiting adventure for me.
I started with my 4H pencell and drew in a basic outline. I took the hard-charcoal pencil and started to give my shapes more life. The soft charcoal pencil was used to give my shapes a 3D look. This pencil was all so used for shadows. The white was used to give each abject there owe light glimmer.
Shape is an element of art that is two-dimensional, flat, or limited to height and width. As a principle of art, contrast refers to the arrangement of opposite elements and effects. For example, light and dark colors, smooth and rough textures, large and small shapes. Contrast can be used to create variety, visual interest, and drama in an artwork

Project Uranus
Jamie Carmain
Prisma Color Pencils, 2020
This is Project Uranus. It is done in the medium of Prisma color pencils. In this picture the girl represents the sun and the hands the moon. Normally the female would represent the moon and would be known as Luna. I wanted to show that the roles could be switched.
I started by deciding where I was going to put the big planet. I drew a girl in the background. Two hand were drawn at the bottom almost as if the viewer is reaching into the picture offering the sun the little planet. The blue planet is Neptune. The original plan for the background plant was earth but I wanted to place my seen farther out in space. The green planet is Uranus. I ended by drawing some stars in the background and a cute little shooting star.
Texture is an element of art that refers to the way things feel or look as if they might feel if touched. I used this to make the hair look hair like. Space is an element of art it refers to the distance between or the area around and within shapes, forms, colors and lines. Space was used to give the planets the proper area they need to look real. Contrast refers to the arrangement of opposite elements and effects. For example, light and dark colors, smooth and rough textures, large and small shapes. Unity and harmony in art are used by artists to tie a composition together and help the composition make sense as a whole piece of art

All Me
Jamie Carmain
Watercolor Pens, 2020
This project is called All Me. It is done in the medium of watercolor pens. This is a self-portrait. In the original picture I’m resting on the couch with my hand supporting my head. In this picture my hand in shown in blue and purple along with the rest of my skin. I tried to keep the same colors for the whole picture. The only time I changed it was when I did my shirt and background
I first started by drawing a grid so I could evenly space things. My first try ripped and this is my second attempt. I started in the bottom corner and had my hair and arm. I then drew out my hand, head, and neckless. The rose where probably my favorite to color. They had no real pattern just a color coordination.
one element I used was color. I used color to add feeling and a calm mood to my art. I used value to show light and darks. I used proportion to make everything seem realistic. I used contrast on my shirt to allow it to pop from the blues, pinks, and purples

Starving Woods
Jamie Carmain
Charcoal, 2020
This is one of my favorite pieces I have done this year. It is called Starving Wood and is done in the medium of charcoal. As I had to switch to online school, I thought that doing charcoal would be the easiest option. I normally hate it due to the way it sounds and makes my skin crawls. I didn’t have any plan on what I wanted to do at first. I do love how this did turn out.
I started by drawing out a sketch, I worked on this sketch for about 3 days. I then moved on to the actually project itself. My fist step was to create a base for everything to sit on. I moved on to lightly drawing everything out. Layer by layer I made things darker and even added some whited to make things light and really POP out. I finished by smudging and adding finally clear lines. I was a little nervous that It wouldn’t be like I wanted it to but it turned out better then I thought. I used patters at the base of the tree and to make the ribs. Texture was used to help give everything is own feeling.

Revere is done in the medium of acrylic paint. Recently I’ve loved painting clouds. The
soft gradient of colors. Normally I would blend objects into the clouds. This time I wanted them
to stand out. In the middle two people can be seen making a promise. The object and colors
represent them.
I started by laying out some tape. I painted inside the tape black, then painted white hands and
shining stars. After drying I removed the tape. I applied tape for the skull and to cover the
triangle. I painted a base background of colors and then added the clouds. I removed the tape.
Painting the skull blue was my last action. Then I spilt paint and just added more drips to hid the
fact.

Sweet bubbles is done in medium of digital art. Over the summer I was messing with colors and
patterns. I wanted to use a drawing with few lines and open space for working. I chose a face. It
gave me plenty of space to draw and add colors, along with drawing in different styles
I started by drawing a circle, then I copied and pasted it. Making each one a different
color. I then took a break from it. When coming back I forgot what I did and was going to do. I
started over for the most part. After finishing a base layer for the face, I opened the layers and
saw the bubbles still there. I liked the way they separated the face and made a new plan
involving them. That’s a lie. There was no plan. I kind of just opened one bubble and added
colors and textures to another. As I did more it got easier to shade and blend and have fun with it.

Reverie is done in the medium of watercolor. Reverie is the state of being lost in your
own thoughts, a daydream. I often find myself dreaming and thing of plans but never taking
action. This cabinet is full of items that hold my dreams and thoughts. The round bottle holds a
simple love of mine. Moonlight shining on the water and that is exactly what the word
Gumusservi means. The second bottle is leaking all over the dream and my mind. To wonder
about deliriously or to Dwale is sometimes how I feel when thinking about reality and my life,
no set plan just actions the bring me forward. The first book I left blank, for now it is just a place
holder for my thoughts and dreams yet to come. Ataraxia is the name of the green book. Ataraxia
is the freedom from emotional disturbance, tranquility. I’ve got many things that make me feel
free and there lined like chapters. Some in the past and other have yet to be found. The first
drawer holds happiness, and the last drawer holds unwell feelings. The middles was left for items
that don’t have a defined place.
I started with a light sketch of the cabinet. I changed the two lower pockets to have
arches. I knew from the beginning I wanted gold handles. I started adding in objects. The gem
was the first thing added in, follow by the shelfs and a large book. I started painting on the wood,
so I had time to think of more items to add and how I wanted to show my thoughts. I added one
more book and a book holder to fill up the upper right pocket. The original plan was to fill all the
shelfs and cubies with different potions but the changed after I drew the first to bottles. I didn’t
want to have a lot of repeating shapes. I added a bird’s skull for sinister decoration and a stack of
bowl incase we had tea and company. I add a ball and stand. It was originally going to be a
globe, but I enjoyed to simple look of a class ball. The candle was the last thing added in. I took
a good while trying to decide if I wanted a bright orange light or a green light instead. In-
between adding items, I painted the wood and added details. Lining some items with white pen
or black pen was one of the last stages followed by naming the potions and books
